The Bayonne Housing Authority (“BHA”) owns and manages public housing apartments in buildings designated for families within eight (8) developments across the City of Bayonne. Apartment sizes include studio and one- to four-bedrooms. Bayonne residents receive first preference.

The public housing apartments are subsidized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”). They are subject to federal regulations and the State of New Jersey tenant/landlord law, as well as BHA policies and procedures. The rent is calculated based upon 30% of the adjusted household income. All utilities are included in the rent. There is an additional monthly charge per air conditioner unit which is provided by the tenant.

When your application is deemed eligible, you will be placed on the waiting list by the date and time it was received. You must inform the BHA of any change to your address, contact information, household composition, etc. It typically takes several years for your application to reach the top of the waiting list. When your application reaches the top of the waiting list, you will be contacted by mail.
